INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2-1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1-3/4 c. flour
  • 1-1/4 c. chopped raisins

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cream butter and sugar gradually. Add beaten eggs and milk.
  2. Add sifted flour with baking powder, vanilla and raisins.
  3. Bake in 2 layer pans for 20 to 30 minutes in 350 degree F. oven.

This is a favourite family birthday cake.

Filling:

  • 1-1/2 c. heavy cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 tbsp. icing sugar
  • 3-1/4 c. chopped raisins

Whip heavy cream until stiff. Add vanilla and icing sugar. Gradually add chopped raisins.
