"Treasured Recipes from the family of William and Paulina Pusch" was a project created by members of the Pusch family. A request was sent to all branches of the family - please send us your favourite recipes so that we can publish them in a recipe book!
The book was published in 1995 by Gateway Publishing Co. Ltd. of Winnipeg Manitoba, in time for the Pusch Family Reunion which was held in Saskatchewan that year.
Chances are that you, or other members of your family, already have a copy of the book. But there are undoubtedly many family members who don't have a copy. And that's why we've decided to publish the recipes here on our website!
A Note On this web edition of "Treasured Recipes"...
The web edition contains all the content of the original 1995 print version, but a few changes were made:
- A fairly minor change - two headings were added to each of the recipes. "INGREDIENTS" and "DIRECTIONS". The print version of our cookbook does not use these headings.
We also divided the "Directions" section into numbered steps. The original print version used a paragraph format. - A more significant change - each recipe in the web edition has a photo, to give an approximate idea of what the finished product will look like. The print version does not have photos for individual recipes, it only has photos for the category title pages. (Those original "category" pages have been scanned for use in the web edition of our cookbook.)
Including recipe photos in the web edition may have been a good decision, then again it might not! In some cases it was difficult to find photos on the web that closely matched the recipe. We sincerely hope that the inclusion of recipe photos does not cause confusion or concern if your result doesn't end up looking like the photo. If that happens, it's not because you did something wrong. It's more likely because we made a poor choice when selecting a non-copyright photo for that recipe! (And while we're on the subject - we'd love for you to send us photos of the meals you prepare from these recipes! We'll gladly use them to replace the stock photos that we currently have. And we'll give you credit in the photo captions!)
Note that you can access all of the original "Treasured Recipes" content without logging in to the website.
We wanted to make it easy for folks to use and share the recipes, without having to create an account. This also makes it easier for you in the grocery store, if you just need to quickly check the list of ingredients for a recipe you want to try. But there is an advantage for those who log in when using the online version of Treasured Recipes!
Each recipe has a link to the family tree record of the person who submitted the recipe, and in many cases there are also links to fascinating stories related to that family's history. The links are only visible to logged in users of the website.
