INGREDIENTS

  • 2 c. white sugar2/3 c. vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2-1/2 c. flour
  • 2/3 c. cocoa
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 2 c. hot water

DIRECTIONS

  1. Beat first 4 ingredients for about 4 minutes.
  2. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with water.
  3. Put into greased or paper lined 8x12 inch pan or two 8x8 pans.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 45 minutes (large pan) or for 30 minutes in small pans.

This is an old-fashioned cake - very moist and keeps fresh a long time.
