INGREDIENTS
- 1-3/4 c. flour
- 1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tbsp. milk
Filling:
- 1-1/2 c. ground raisins
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
DIRECTIONS
- Sift flour and baking soda together.
- Cream sugar and shortening; stir in unbeaten egg yolk and vanilla.
- Stir in 1/4 of flour mixture. Add milk, then remaining flour mixture.
- Set to chill while filling is made.
- Roll dough on floured board. Cut with floured cookie cutter, then cut star shape in 1/2 of rounds.
- Put 1 teaspoon of filling on plain rounds and top with star round. Press edges together.
- Place on greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees F. for about 12 minutes.
Filling: Cook over low heat until thick. Cool.
