INGREDIENTS
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 4 tbsp. butter or margarine
- 4 tbsp. shortening
- 1 c. milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 4-1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
DIRECTIONS
- Dissolve 1 teaspoon sugar in 1/2 cup water; sprinkle with yeast and leave 10 minutes.
- Scald milk and add remaining sugar, butter, shortening and salt. Let cool until lukewarm.
- Beat eggs in large bowl; add milk mixture and yeast.
- Add 2 cups of flour and beat until smooth. Add remaining flour and knead. Let rise until double in bulk.
- Divide dough. Roll each 1/2 into the size of a large dinner plate.
- Spread with melted margarine. Cut into 16 wedges, then roll from large end into crescents. Let rise 1 hour.
- Bake at 375 degrees F. for 10 minutes.
YIELD: Thirty-two rolls.
